Thoughts on Thursday’s Runners

We have two runners today at Newbury on Thursday 13th June. Debutant AMONGST THE STARS is having her first racecourse start in the 4.00pm Fillies’ Novice Stakes over 1 mile. ABBEY HEIGHTS bids to back up his lastest win, lining up in the 5.05pm 4 year old plus handicap over 6 furlongs. Richard Kingscote will be in the saddle on both of our runners this afternoon.

AMONGST THE STARS

Amongst The Stars is a sweet filly with a likeable attitude. She’ll need a bit further but Newbury is a lovely course to start out at and close to home.

Amongst The Stars

Clove Hitch sets a high bar for her rivals to aim at, she has the advantage of experience and for all that several of these boast impressive pedigrees it would require a well above performance from a debutant to win this. Sambucus and Izipzi have both shown ability.

Amongst The Stars runs for owner and breeder Peter Onslow and Mr & Mrs Middlebrook. She will be led up by Tamsin Karn.

ABBEY HEIGHTS

Abbey Heights won a bit better than the nose margin on his second start back from a long break. We’re running slightly wrong at the weights under the penalty but this sort of track is really what he needs and the options in the next while are a little limited so we felt this was worth a shot.

Abbey Heights

The race looks a typically tight sprint handicap. Sixties Chic won a similar race at Windsor last time out, with a few of these in behind him and looks the biggest danger. One More Wave showed there is potentially more to come with a good run at Ascot two starts back but didn’t quite match that on the all weather last time.

Abbey Heights runs for owners Gary and Lesley Middlebrook who also bred this son of Dark Angel. He will be led up by Jan Kasecky who cares for him daily at home.
