Thoughts on Thursday’s Runners
Two runners this evening on the all weather. Pleasant Charm goes to Southwell for the 6.15. Eminent Angel heads to Wolverhampton for the 7.30.
Pleasant Charm
Richard Kingscote is aboard Pleasant Charm for a seven furlong classified stakes. The filly wears cheek pieces for the first time to help her travel a bit more consistently. Pleasant Charm has been a bit of an enigma so far. She certainly shows enough in her homework to suggest that she can win a race. Her first couple of starts were a bit unsatisfactory for various reasons. Last time she ran a little in snatches over a mile and looked promising. Unfortunately she didn’t really look as if she saw out the trip so hopefully the drop back is in her favour. Races at this level aren’t really where we aspire to be but hopefully she can prove herself better than this.
Typically, races at this level are complicated with most of the horses lacking consistency, often luck in running and tactics affect the result. The obvious candidate to win this is Tommytwohoots, he won a slightly higher grade handicap last week. Extracurricular has put together a string of relatively decent efforts, whilst Camacho Man can operate at this level and ran well on his reappearance after an absence. Equidae is interesting in first time blinkers having dropped 19lbs in the handicap over the past year.
Pleasant Charm runs for Gary & Lesley Middlebrook who bred the filly. She will be led up Charlotte Wright and overseen by travelling manager Shaun Johnson.
Eminent Angel
Eminent Angel makes her debut in the 7.30 at Wolverhampton. Liam Keniry will be aboard for the 7 furlong novice race. The daughter of Dark Angel looks the type to benefit for a run or two based on her homework and the small field look a good spot to give her an introduction.
Queen Aminatu sets the clear standard of those with experience and it could be that well bred newcomers Callisto Moon (a full sister to Group 1 winner Earthlight) and Time to Parley (out of a Group 3 winner) both from stables that regularly have first time out winners are the ones to challenge her.
Eminent Angel runs for Gary & Lesley Middlebrook who bred the filly. The filly will be led up by Sammy Barnett who cares for the filly at home and will be overseen by Tamsin Karn.
