Thoughts on today’s runners
Two runners today (Friday 28th July). Lil Guff is the first to line up in the 4.45pm at Ascot and will be ridden by William Buick, the partnership having won on their last start together at Sandown in June. Presently lines up at Uttoexeter shortly after at 5.04pm, having her second start in a NH Flat race. Brian Hughes takes the reins having ridden her on her first start earlier in the year.
Lil Guff seems best at five furlongs now and her run over six last time is probably best ignored. Her form over five this season has been excellent and she’s looking for win number three for the year and the seventh of her career in total.
This looks a tight fillies handicap and they’ve already met each other a few times this season. The ground complicates matters as most of this field look better suited by faster surfaces. There’s not much between Cruise, Cuban Breeze and Glamourous Breeze.
Bred by Sarah Clifford, Lil Guff runs in the colours of owner Wayne Clifford and will be led up today by Epona Miller who rides and cares for her daily at home.
Presently shaped nicely on her debut under Brian Hughes and he was keen to rider her again.
Gone Away Madam won nicely first time out and looks the one to beat.
Presently runs for owner and breeders Gary & Lesley Middlebrook and will be led up today by yard manager Lauren Webb.
