Thoughts on today’s runners

We send out two runners today to Wolverhampton. First up is Southwold in the 6.30pm with Aira Force shortly after in the 7.30pm, both horses will be ridden by David Egan.

Southwold

Southwold has been pretty consistent most of this season, albeit he does prick his ears when he hits the front. He didn’t really get the run of the race last time and can probably be forgiven that performance to a degree.

Southwold

Star Player looks big player dropped down into this class. Cliffcake has struggled in class 4 company of late but did win a class 5 when last seen in one and has a tricky draw. We would like to think that Southwold can reverse form with He’s A Gentleman with a cleaner trip this time.

Southwold runs in the colours of owner and breeders Gary and Lesley Middlebrook and will be led up by Shannon Pasotti.

Aira Force

Aira Force has been frustrating this season, she had a few interruptions early on this season. Her homework has always been good enough to suggest she has trained on. Last time out she finally showed up much better on track, with the application of cheekpieces. She showed good speed that night in a much stronger field than she meets here. She faded over six furlongs and drops back in distance this evening.

Aira Force

A lot of this field are inconsistent so it looks a tough race to call. Murbih is an exception but has tough draw to overcome which tempers his chances. Newyorkstateofmind has predominately raced over six furlongs for current connections but has some good form over five and is interesting dropped in distance here. Speed Dial Baileys has good form over course and distance but this is a step up in grade.

Aira Force is another homebred runner for Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. She will be led up by Tamsin Karn who rides and cares for her daily at home.
