Thoughts on Todays Runners
Two Runners Today
Sniper Viper, 5:45 at Ffos Las – Jimmy Quinn
Sniper Viper showed a tiny bit more in her most recent start at Goodwood cutting out much of the running before fading in the last couple of furlongs. This is a last throw of the dice over what ought to be her best trip in her first run in handicap company. She only has one eye so it has taken her a bit of time to get her used to racing, however it does seem to hinder her to a degree as she runs more on her nerves than relaxing into her running and as a result burns more energy than necessary.
A race where quite a few have a bit to prove this looks an obvious opening for Hungarian Rapsohdy who to have been given a generous opening mark by the handicapper. Misu Pete an experienced all weather campaigner who make his debut probably sets the standard – while Doctor Bong may find this easier company presents an opportunity if able to put one of his better performances in.
Permanent, 5:50 at Windsor – Raymond Dawson
Permanent has not been the most consistent of performers in his career to date but definitely showed he could win a race when finishing second two starts back at Lingfield. That was over nine furlongs and seemed to really suit him, hopefully the extra furlong here won’t be too much of a problem. He disappointed last time out at Yarmouth and perhaps found the race coming too quick after Lingfield. He’s had a bit of a freshen up. Raymond Dawson has ridden a few winners since coming over to England and looks an apprentice with potential, haivng gained experience in Ireland and rode plenty of winners on the competitive pony racing circuit over there.
This will be the easiest race that Secret Soul has contested and the well bred filly looks the horse with the most potential in this field.
