Thoughts on todays runners
Two runners to start the week.
Socrates, Salisbury 4:30, – Rob Hornby
Struggled this year, however he goes better at home than he has shown on the track. The ground might be against him, we will make a decision on his participation once we have taken a look at the track this afternoon.
Captain Sedgewick has proved pretty consistent at this grade and is the one they will have to beat. Unless something else steps forward Love and Be Loved is the one likely to put up the biggest challenge.
Solent Meads, Windsor 7:45 – George Downing
Solent Meads has been a disappointment this season, he looked a horse with a bit of potential as a two year old and went well enough in all weather maidens over the winter to suggest that as he filled into his frame he should make up into a decent three year old. Therefore he is on a bit of a comeback mission at this stage. We have stepped him up in trip here today and switched the blinkers out for some cheekpieces in an effort to try and inspire him a little more.
Medalla D’Oro looked fairly harshly treated on what he showed in his maidens but has shown enough since going handicapping to suggest that now he drops into an easier race against lesser opposition he could well be the horse to beat. Chunkyfunkymonkey sets the standard on his recent form and should be close once again.
