Thoughts on today’s runners

Av A Word 3:10 Brighton – Silvestre De Sousa

A dual course and distance winner this season we have aimed at this race since his last run. Silvestre should really suit the horse who is well in himself and can hopefully cope with the small raise in grade.

Free Forum looked a horse who was well handicapped when winning last time out and is the obvious one to beat. However, it might not be quite as straightforward as that as both Celtik Secret and Kings City are from yards that often get their horses well handicapped. Famous Dynasty is more exposed but has posted several creditable efforts in defeat.

Mutineer 5:25 Wolverhampton – Edward Greatrex

Mutineer won comfortably on Wednesday night at Kempton and if he turns up in similar form he should have a great chance again. Its always tricky turning one out this quickly and you only really know once they are in the race if the previous effort has taken too much out of them. The draw is a bit tricky too so will need some luck to get a decent position. The 6lb penalty is partially offset by Eddie’s three pound claim.

These are mostly exposed older types who are capable of winning on the day. Lord Murphy has been out of sorts the last couple of starts but is a course and distance winner. The Dukkerer is a good old stick at this level and probably sets the standard for the race.
