Thoughts on Today’s Runners

First up is Nyala in the 2.00 at Brighton. Tom Queally rides in the mile handicap. She took a step forward over this distance last time out at Haydock when finishing fourth in a novice event. She has got more professional with each start and if she takes to idiosyncrasies of the track she should be competitive in this company.

Livvy’s Dream sets the obvious standard and looks the one to beat.

Chizz de Biz is the second of our runners in the 4.30. David Egan claims three pounds in the saddle in the six furlong handicap. A filly who has always worked nicely at home she has never built on an encouraging debut. That said her next three starts we’re on the all weather and she didn’t really get the run of things a couple of times. She’s come back from a break and worked nicely since her return. It’s a tough ask for an inexperienced filly to take on a bunch of seasoned veteran but she is open to progression that most of these aren’t.

Deeds Not Words was a talented horse in his prime and won this race last year and looks a starting point, however Give Em A Clump has put up some decent performances of late and Impart ran a solid effort in a stronger race last time out but is far from consistent.

Dawn Commando is the final of runner of the day in the 7.50 at Windsor with George Downing in the saddle. The colt has contested some deep races whilst qualifying for his mark and should be better suited to this company. The longer distance should be to his liking. He is quite a big heavy horse and has definitely progressed with the more racing and training he has had.

The race looks wide open and is filled with horses likely to progress as the season develops. Happy Ending has already managed to get his name on the scoresheet which has to be seen as a plus and should enjoy the extra distance here. Seinsational has been progressing with racing and has reasonable form in similar handicaps, likewise Sageness stepped forward in handicap company and the extra two furlongs are likely to benefit. The likes of Hot Off The Press and Thresholdofadream look potential improvers now stepping into handicap company over trips that should be more suitable based on their pedigree.
