Thoughts on today’s runners

Nyala heads to Brighton for the 4.40. William Carson rides the filly in the mile handicap. The filly has been pretty consistent since going handicapping and ran a solid third last time out at Chepstow. Earlier in the season she was third over course and distance and handles the tricky track at Brighton which is always a big plus.

It looks a great opportunity for Nyala to get deserved win on the board, her rivals all have a bit to prove based on their recent form. Vicky Cristina showed ability that would races likes this when trained in Ireland as two year old but is yet to reproduce that in the U.K.

Freesia Gold makes her debut in the 5:45 at Chelmsford. John Fahy rides in the seven furlong novice race. Not overly big Freesia Gold has taken time to come to hand mentally more than physically, as a slow learner she will probably benefit from this experience.

The race looks open with the field pretty lightly raced. Rockshore and Balladeer set a reasonable standard with the latter more likely to show improvement on just his second start. However a newcomer or one of the others taking a big jump forward could surpass the level of form shown by that pair. Chance of Glory has the most interesting pedigree of the newcomers.
