Thoughts on Today’s runners

Two runners this evening (Saturday June 8th). At 7.30 Zephyrina bids to go one place better than her debut at Chepstow over a mile when she returns to the track over seven furlongs. The drop in trip is probably not ideal but the much softer going will make this a testing seven furlongs which should remove some of the difference. Kieran Shoemark is in the saddle for the first time for the yard.

Zephyrina’s main rival looks to be Quirky Gertie who ran nicely over similar going over a furlong shorter last time finishing between a couple of ordinary handicap winners. Denis the Diva and Moveonup are more exposed and although they set a standard it is probably a touch short of what the more lightly race pair have achieved and have the potential to achieve.

Zephyrina races for Pat, Jill and Abigail Whitten and will be lead up this evening by Andy Williams

Chitra is bidding for her fifth win in the 7.45 at Lingfield. She drops back to five furlongs something that Richard Kingscote thought she would be capable of when winning over on her the two previous times he has ridden the filly.

Chitra’s main rival looks to be Fairy Story who demolished a weaker field on Sunday at Nottingham. La Fortunata has some decent runs at this grade but is probably a better horse on the all weather. Three Little Birds and Justice Lady are capable if exposed at this level.

Chitra is owned and was bred by Gary and Lesley Middlebrook and will be led up by James Pulley.
