Thoughts on Today’s Runners
Two runners at Bath this afternoon. First up is Lady Dauphin in the 4.20. Richard Kingscote is aboard the filly for the mile handicap. The pair are drawn in stall 1. Lady Dauphin made an encouraging debut for the yard at Wolverhampton, looking as if she had recaptured some of her form. If she builds on that she should be capable of going well here on a track that might suit her better then Wolverhampton which has a very short run in
Perfect Outing stepping into handicap company on a return from a fairly lengthy absence looks a danger. Her third start in particular has worked out well and her mark of 58 could well be on the generous side as she split horses that have been effective from marks in the 70s and some of those further forward in the field have gone on to be rated far higher. Pink Jazz is the one that sets the standard on recent form, having finished a close run third in the other division of the same race that Lady Dauphin ran in last time out.
Lady Dauphin is by Bungle Inthejungle, out of the First Defence mare, Chateau Dauphin. She races for The Johnson’s and today will be led up by Ilse Belien.
The second runner of the day is Lovers’ Gait in the 5.20. The filly will also be ridden by Richard Kingscote for the ten furlong handicap and they are drawn wide in stall 12. The filly has recorded two wins over course and distance this summer and relished the fast ground she will get today, so whilst this looks a deeper contest then those races she should go well again.
Mephisto looks the main danger on form having been awarded a similar level handicap at Sandown two starts back before being held in a slightly better race next time out. Precisely is lightly raced and should enjoy the extra distance on handicap debut. Burke and Wills is another who could benefit from a bit further, whilst the veteran Biotic would not be without a chance if on a going day.
Lovers’ Gait is by Gleneagles, out of the Statue of Liberty mare, Liberally. She races for Simon Hope and Stephen Barrow. Today she will be led up by Lauren Webb.
