Thoughts on Today’s Runners

Sarsen Farm sends out two runners in the 6.30 at Chelmsford this evening (Thursday, 14th of January). Lady Dauphin is ridden by Adam McNamara in the ten furlong handicap and the pair are drawn in stall 9. The mare steps back up in distance this time. She was disappointing last time at Newcastle, but had a treble of thirds in her previous three since joining the yard, including over this distance, when arguably doing a bit too much in front.

River Sprite is partnered by Richard Kingscote, currently leading the all weather jockey championship. They are drawn in stall 10. The filly put up a career best stepped up to this distance last time out and when beaten just a head. Hopefully she can back that up with a similar performance

River Sprite winning at Newcastle last October

The race is open, with plenty of these capable of winning at this level on their best efforts, however they aren’t the most consistent bunch as a whole. Pilots Wings put up a good effort last time out (with Golden Cygnet in behind), much his best run for a while and looks a danger here, while Junoesque hasn’t quite matched a the effort she posted when winning a three starts back but does appear to have quite a bit in her favour here. Mdina is still improving and posted a good effort over course and distance last time to be second here, another step forward should see him competitive here.

Lady Dauphin is by Bungle Inthejungle, out of the First Defence mare, Chateau Dauphin. She races for The Johnson’s and will be led up by Alice Roberts.

River Sprite is by Swiss Spirit out of the Forest Camp mare, Camp Riverside. She races for the Diskovery Partnership and owner breeder Fiona Denniff. River Sprite will be led up today by James Pulley. We have an exciting new filly by Havana Gold for the Diskovery Partnership in 2021. Click on the link below to find out more information.
