Thoughts on Today’s Runners
Two runners at Salisbury today (11th August). First up is Seneca Chief in the 3.05. Jack Mitchell is on board the gelding for the five furlong sprint. They are drawn in stall 5. Seneca Chief has a removal of the hood in his race today and will wear a red hood down to the start instead, although he has run on ground that is softer than ideal last couple of starts the general feeling is that hood is now doing it’s job too well and just taken the edge off the gelding.
A small field of 6 runners. Additional is the danger after dropping in grade but Under Curfew could may well continue his flying form and complete a five-timer after being unbeaten in his previous four starts.
Seneca Chief is by Invincible Spirit, out of the Namid mare, Albertine Rose. He was bred by and races for Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. He will be led up by Michael Coles, and overseen by Shaun Johnson. At home he is cared for by Jan Kasecky.
The second runner of the day is Liberty Warrior in the 4.50. Rob Hornby is in the irons for the ten furlong handicap. They are drawn in stall 9. After a promising start to his career in novice company Liberty Warriors first start in handicaps was a bit of a non event. He came back with a minor niggle but is bouncing at home again and he should show up in a better light today.
A race for horses that have not won in 2021, Saratoga Gold is the danger here, winning late in 2020 and putting up a good effort at Sandown in a race that was strong for the class and the form is working out well. The faster going is a question for him.
Liberty Warrior is by Muhaarar, out of the Royal Applause mare, Oui Say Oui. He is owned by Capture The Moment and will be led up by Michael Coles, who cares him at home, and overseen by Shaun Johnson.
