Passing Star 2.30 Chelmsford

Passing Star goes in the six furlong claimer with George Downing in the saddle. He sports a tongue tie as he has had several breathing operations in the past so we are looking to cover all bases with gelding who has travelled well in a couple of races since joining the yard but not really finished his races off. A very able horse in his younger days over seven furlongs he should get away with six furlongs in this sort of grade.

The main danger looks to be Pearl Acclaim who has been running reasonably well of late in better races than this but as is often the case with these older horses in claimers it will be the one feeling best on the day that gets the win.

Seneca Chief 5.25 Chelmsford

Drops back to five with George Downing in the saddle. He was very free over seven furlongs on his most recent start and the drop back to five here should help. He wears the hood again, although he sported that last time out as well. A horse that is more than capable physically, mentally he needs to learn to settle in his races to be able to achieve his potential.

Not a huge amount of convincing form to go on in the race and Joysunny looks to set the standard with Sadieroseclifford probably next best if able to overcome the widest draw (made somewhat easier by the three non-runners).

Socrates 5.50 Windsor

Steps up to a mile for the first on his handicap debut with Richard Kingscote on board. Richard won races on both his mother and half brother Lisa’s Legacy so has a good relationship with family! Ideally he’d want faster ground than the good to soft on offer today at Windsor but having already missed an engagement his sporting owners are keen to see him racing and getting his season underway.

In a race where a few have been a little disappointing of late Sir Plato probably looks the most likely winner, already a winner over course and distance in this grade he can be forgiven his defeat in a better race over further at Beverley last time out. Peloton is has been well held in higher grade handicaps but his amiden form makes him of interest in this race.
