Thoughts on Today’s Runners
Two runners this evening at Kempton Park. Lil Guff runs in the 6 furlong novice at 6.15. Richard Kingscote is in the irons at the consistent filly looks for her deserved break through victory.
Lil Guff sets the standard in terms of form as to what has been achieved on the track, the most likely improver is Psychic Change who drops a furlong in distance after travelling strongly on debut. Roseberry Topping is a half sister to very smart horses and is another who could improve, while Modern Artist may have strengthened during her time away from the track and didn’t really get the run of things last time.
Lil Guff was bred and is owned by Wayne & Sarah Clifford. She will be led up by Epona Miller who cares for her at home and rides her most of the time. She will be overseen by Shaun Johnson.
Liberty Warrior in the 7.45 is another who has shown a good level of form looking to break his duck, Jack Mitchell rides in the mile and half handicap. Liberty Warrior has finished his last two starts over a mile and quarter strongly suggesting the extra two furlongs should be a big plus this evening. We have reached for the cheekpieces as he has wandered around a bit from time to time, they should help him run straighter.
A typically open looking Kempton handicap where the way the race is run will no doubt play a big part. Buxted Too is badly drawn but has been just about holding his own in higher grade races this season and looks the horse to beat dropped into this grade. Diamond Bay got off the mark stepped up in distance last time but will need to step forward again in this company. Alpha King is intriguing for new connections stepping up markedly in distance, undoubtedly a horse with talent he hasn’t looked entirely straight forward to date.
Liberty Warrior races for Capture the Moment, a syndicate managed by Daniel & Claire that aims to to find quality yearling prospects and develop them into high class racehorses. We’ll be looking to launch a couple of new horses in the coming weeks as we search for talent at the yearling sales, so get in touch if you’d like to get involved. Today he will be led up by Epona Miller, he is cared for at home by Michael Coles.
