Thoughts on Today’s Runners

Two runners from Sarsen Farm this afternoon up at Pontefract. First up is Bowland Park in the 2.55 with Jack Mitchell back in the irons for the ten furlong handicap. A small field of four runners, Bowland Park is drawn in stall 4. The faster ground is probably not a plus but countered by the increase in distance which should suit the gedling in his bid for his third win of the year.

In what is quite likely to be a tactical affair a case could be made for all 4 horses, Tiger Beetle’s form suggests his mark is viable. Highwaygrey has a great course record & Living Legend clearly some of the immense talent he showed before 2020 although the drop back in trip might not entirely suit.

Bowland Park was bred by and races for Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. He is by New Bay, out of the Toboug mare, Distinctive. He will be led up by Michael Coles who also cares for the gelding at home.

Our second runner of the day is Seneca Chief in the 4.05. Jack Mitchell is on board for the five furlong handicap and he is drawn in stall 3. Seneca also bids for his third victory of the season, he will need a career best as he steps up in class.

Indian Sounds and Saluti look the pair to be beat in competitive sprint. Modular Magic is still lightly raced and probably improving so another step forward would see him in the mix. The three year olds Ballintoy Harbour and Ben Macdui similarly on developing sprinters open to progresssion.

Seneca Chief is by Invincible Spirit, out of the Namid mare, Albertine Rose. He races for and was bred by Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. He will be led up by Alice Roberts. At home he is cared for by Jan Kasecky and mainly ridden by Nick Bentley.
