Thoughts on today’s runners
A busy Saturday for the team with four runners. L’Enclume, Outgate & Lil Guff all run at Haydock followed by Helm Rock at York.
L’Enclume
L’Enclume has her first ever run on the turf today at 1.25pm under Nicola Currie. She is returning after a short break, most of our horses have taken a step forward for their first run back this turf season however she didn’t have the same amount of time out as most.
L’Enclume & Lauren Webb
Outgate
Outgate took another step forward last time out and comes here off the back of a good win. He’s probably more battle hardened than most of this field which should stand him in good stead. This is a very valuable prize and some of his lightly raced rivals have looked impressive in Maiden/Novice company. Tom Marquand will be in the saddle and they head to post at 2.35pm.
L’Enclume & Outgate both run for owners Gary & Lesley Middlebrook and will be led up by Lauren Webb.
Lil Guff
Next up at 4.20pm is Lil Guff. This filly is admirably tough and consistent, she came out best of those near the front end in a very competitive race at Ascot in a higher grade last time out. It’s a big field again here today but she shouldn’t be too far away. James Doyle takes the ride.
Lil Guff runs for owner Wayne Clifford and will be led up by Epona Miller who rides her daily at home (pictured above).
Helm Rock
Over to York for our final runner of the day in the 5.15pm. Helm Rock ran well last time, only beaten by a very unexposed horse and pulling well clear of the rest of the field. It is a big field today for a good prize for the grade of race, his draw of 17/20 is not the most helpful.
Helm Rock runs for owners Capture The Moment VII and will be led up by James Pulley.
