Thoughts on today’s runners

Two runners today, Don’t Tell Claire at Ascot and Promotion at Salisbury.

Don’t Tell Claire

Don’t Tell Claire runs in a Fillies Handicap over a mile at Ascot at 4.45pm, Hollie Doyle rides. The mare was a course and distance winner of a higher grade handicap. She also put a good performance here on her seasonal reappearance in May. Last time out at the Royal Meeting on the round track the race didn’t really pan out to suit her. We are hopeful she can reverse form with some of the rivals who re-oppose today.

The three year olds are meeting their elders for the first time here and Washraa and Belhaven look a pair of progressive fillies. There is little separate them on form. It will be interesting to see how they stack up against Spirit Of The Bay who is probably the pick of the older fillies on form.

Don’t Tell Claire runs in the colours of owner Andrew Stonehill. She will be led up by Shannon Pasotti.

Promotion

Promotion lines up in the 7.45pm at Salisbury under Pat Cosgrave. The gelding was third over course and distance in the spring and has been pretty consistent since the cheekpieces were added.

The race hinges around whether hat trick seeking can last the extra two furlongs. His pedigree isn’t conclusive but his stride metrics suggests that he can.

Promotion runs for owners J Lukas, T Aspinall & Partners and will be led up by Tamsin Karn who cares for him at home.
