Thoughts on today’s runners

Two runners today (Sunday 7th August) Andaleep in the 2.10pm at Windsor. Don’t Tell Claire in the 6.15pm at Haydock.

Andaleep

Andaleep runs in an 11 furlong handicap for Amateur jockeys and will be ridden by Henry Main. The gelding has been super consistent since joining us. Winning once with two seconds and a third from his four starts. He steps up slightly in distance. He has good form over eleven furlongs earlier in his career but has never won over further than ten.

With just five runners this is likely to be tactical with Heat and Dust looking to be Andaleep’s main rival.

Andaleep runs in the colours of owner James Finch and will be led up by Shannon Pasotti who cares for him daily at home.

Don’t Tell Claire

Don’t Tell Claire lines up in the Sunday Series Handicap for Fillies over a mile, Cieran Fallon rides. This is a drop in grade for Don’t Tell Claire. She has contested three red hot fillies handicaps at Ascot this season. She hasn’t really had the rub of the green in any of those, particularly last time when they went no pace. Don’t Tell Claire was positioned towards the back that day. The wide draw is not ideal.

This looks quite an open race. The unexposed three year olds probably pose the most threat. The lightly race Tarrab won in a good time at Ascot last time but needs to prove she can stay the mile. Queen Aminatu is another three year old with stamina to prove. Rose Barton has won on her first go at a mile and can still improve further. Rainbow Colours has proven form and ran well twice at Glorious Goodwood. She looks a major threat if able to to maintain her form after a busy time. Of the older horses Celtic Empress probably didn’t stay at Chester last time. Her 6th at Royal Ascot reads very well in the context of this race.

Don’t Tell Claire is owned by Andrew Stonehill and she will be led up today by James Pulley. She was purchased as yearling from the Doncaster Premier Sale by Daniel & Claire for £15,000. She has won 4 times including at a valuable handicap at Ascot. This years Premier Sale is in a couple of weeks time, get in touch with us so we can find you your next winner.
