Thoughts on today’s runners at Bath

Two runners at Bath this afternoon (Wednesday September 2nd) as long as the ground isn’t too soft. Outrage goes in the 2.20 with Dane O’Neill on board in the five furlong handicap. A big strapping colt he has plenty of ability and will certainly be winning races such as this in due course. He is however very inexperienced compared to his rivals having just had two starts, winning his second. Taking on more seasoned handicappers is always a particularly difficult challenge for a young sprinter where one mistake can cost the chance of winning. He has improved physically since his last run and his homework is going the right way. Drawn widest of all in eight is not ideal either.

The race looks wide open with plenty of in form rivals stepping up to the plate, all bar one have won at least once in their last three starts, whilst the other was second after a long absence.

You’re My Cracker goes in the 3.20. She has been very consistent this season finishing second on all four starts since joining the yard and has promising young jockey Paddy Pilley in the saddle for this apprentice riders race. Twice a runner up over course and distance and unlucky both times she looks sure to once again be in the mix.

You’re My Cracker is taking on a mix wily old veterans who win regularly and some less exposed three year olds its Mambo Spirit looks a big danger amongst the older brigade, whilst the amongst the three year olds Dusty Blue who won over course and distance last time out is the form horse.
