Thoughts on Trinity River at Lingfield

Trinity River returns to action at Lingfield tomorrow afternoon (September 24th) in the 2.00. Silvestre De Sousa who won on her at Wolverhampton will ride her in the five furlong nursery. Trinity River is has come out her slightly disappointing run at Bath last time in good shape. She didn’t run a terrible race that day and all that we can put her performance down to is the stiff nature of five and half furlongs at Bath being a bit too far for her. The handicapper has dropped her three pounds for that performance and that ought to help her as she takes a slight drop in grade tomorrow. She needs a fast surface and with the weather having a distinctly autumnal feel the polytrack looks to be where her immediate future lies. The sharp five ought to suit and she is well enough drawn in stall four to suggest she should have every chance.

The opposition look a tight knit bunch and tactics could play a big part with a lot of potential early speed in the race. Ice Slice is well berthed in stall three to make the running in his usual style and if he has the pace for five that may well suit him as he hasn’t been able to hold on over further recently. Lady in Blue drops in trip and sports blinkers for the first time, which if bringing about some improvement should see her being competitive as this represents a drop in grade for her too. Baytown Kestrel is well drawn for one who has sucessfully made the running and her last run is best ignored as she missed the break completely and a reversion to front running tactics ought to see her in the mix.

Trinity River drawing clear of her rivals under tomorrows jockey Silvestre De Sousa to win her maiden at Wolverhampton earlier in the season.
