Thoughts on two runners at Nottingham
Two runners at this evenings meeting at Nottingham (Friday 12th of May). In the 6.15 Exacting makes her debut. Steve Drowne rides in the fillies mile maiden. Exacting is a lovely athletic filly that has been showing some promise at home, she has stepped forward with each piece of work she has done and will benefit from the experience tonight. She is a half sister to two quite useful fillies in Distinctive and Blue Aegean. She is by Excelebration who has started to show some promise as a young stallion.
The field features a group of very lightly raced fillies and anyone of them could take a step forward. On their form to date Music Lesson is interesting having finished second last time out, Feint showed promise when third on debut and expensive yearling Alouja ran well on debut and can be forgiven for disappointing in a useful race when pulling too hard next time out. Street Marie and Maid to Remember were both very expensive young horses and give this the look of a race with a bit of depth to it.
Solent Meads returns to action in the 8.00. Dane O’Neill rides the gelding on his handicap debut over ten furlongs. A big horse he should improve this season and showed promise on his starts as a two year old. He is well at home, however it has been the case that the horses have been needed their first run back of the season.
The race looks an open affair with several of these horses bringing recent placed efforts either in maidens or similar handicaps to the table. Lunar Jet looks likely to benefit from the step back up to ten furlongs both on pedigree and the way he ran on his last start when seen over a mile. Chocolate Box should appreciate the stiffer test and may well have improved from two to three.
