Thoughts on Wednesday’s runners
We send out two runner on Wednesday, 28th of June. Helm Rock lines up in the 3.40pm at Salisbury with Richard Kingscote on board.
Moondial represents the stable at Kempton in the 5.15pm. Alex Jary is in the saddle, the combination having won together last time out.
Helm Rock
Helm Rock ran really creditably last time out at Sandown when he was very poorly drawn. He probably used a little too much energy out wide. The gelding ended up in front a long way home and just couldn’t quite last home. He showed he was able to handle quicker ground that day.

This doesn’t look the strongest race for the grade. The main dangers would look likely to be the progressive three year olds, who get a hefty weight for age allowance from Helm Rock. Skysail was impressive on seasonal debut in first time blinkers and is the most likely candidate. He posted a good time that day too. Swift Lioness is another going the right way.

Moondial
Moondial got a deserved win on the board to open her account for her three year old campaign at Salisbury in an apprentice race last time. The win came after several creditable placed efforts. A winner at two and three she always gives her owners a good shout and a decent day out! Although this race is open to more experienced apprentices, Alex did a great job in the saddle and keeps the ride. This negates half of the penalty for the previous win, with his claim this time around.
Moondial
The field is very similar to the ones she beat at Salisbury. Boom Boom Pow finished closest that day and looks a danger. White Mist and Moondial were very closely matched Wolverhampton earlier in the year. Moondial met Musterion over a mile and half a furlong earlier this season. Back at seven Moondial ought to have the beating of that rival. Island Luck will be more competitive dropped into this grade of handicap.
