Thoughts on Zephyrina

Zephyrina returns to the track this afternoon in the 4:50pm at Pontefract. Richard Kingscote is in the irons for the mile handicap. The 4 year-old filly has drawn fairly wide in stall 10. Zephyrina made an encouraging start to her career when finishing runner up over a mile, she dropped back to an inadequate seven and Kurt got the job done on her second start. Her season was then curtailed after picking up a little niggle on her third start.

She is unexposed and open to further progress. The stiff mile should suit as should any ease in the ground as the day goes on.

The race looks open and most of the runners are fairly exposed if capable at this level. Angel’s Whisper should be suited by the drop back to this distance after doing much of his more recent racing over further. Turntable has just had four starts and is open to further improvement, he runs for a new yard and is well bred.

Zephyrina is by Big Bad Bob, out of a Barathea mare, Western Sky. She will be led up Lauren Webb, and overseen by Daniel. The filly runs for Patrick Whitten and was purchased at the Tattersalls September Yearling sale by Daniel and Claire. With a good pedigree she will likely be retained by the Whitten’s to breed from in due course.
