Winner – Abbey Heights
Abbey Heights broke his maiden comfortably last night at the third time of asking under P J McDonald for owner breeders Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. Having been placed in his first two starts over seven furlongs, the drop back in trip to six furlongs suited the colt perfectly. Ridden from the front and travelling strongly, he was pushed out inside the final furlong and ran on comfortably finishing two lengths clear of Maywake in second place.
He looks an exciting horse going forwards and should make into a useful handicapper and perhaps in time something beyond that.
Abbey Heights is by Dark Angel, out of the Exceed and Excel mare, Ducissa. His yearling half brother by Saxon Warrior is offered as a yearling in Tattersalls Book 3. He was led up by Sammy Barnett, and overseen by Shaun Johnson. The three year old colt is ridden at home by Lauren Webb and Nick Bentley.
As ever thanks to all the team for their hard work and well done to the team at Wood Farm Stud who raised him.
