Winner – Chitra

Chitra won on her first start in nursery company under a Robert Winston at Kempton yesterday evening. The two year old filly is owned and was bred by Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. She is by exciting first season sire Sea the Moon, despite being a staying son of Sea the Moon the filly was able to show the pace to win over six furlongs. She is out of the unraced Shamardal mare Persian Star a sister to the stakes placed pair Prompter and Penny Drops.

Chitra is a filly who showed ability on her first start in the spring over five furlongs. She was then unfortunate to pull muscles on her second start. She ran a decent race on her next start at Chester, not quite having the strength to see out seven furlongs after traveling two wide in a race that is working out well. She was given a bit of time to grow and strengthen and that paid dividends last night.

Chitra should continue to progress in the coming weeks and will probably stick to six for the immediate future as she showed plenty of speed from the gates and was still able to finish off her race well. Although pedigree suggest that she should stay further time will tell.
