Winner – Don’t Tell Claire
Don’t Tell Claire put up a career best at Ascot on Saturday to notch her second success of the season and the fourth of her career. Jack Mitchell gave her a patient ride, before delivering her with an electric turn of foot in the final two furlongs from the rear of the field, a fair effort given the race wasn’t run at the strongest of paces.
Purchased as a yearling for just £15,000 by Daniel & Claire for owner Andrew Stonehill (whose wife is also called Claire – hence the name) it was a thrilling day for everyone involved, as Andrew was also joined by son Ben. It would be fair to say there were a few sore throats after the race, as anyone who saw Dan’s interview on Sky Sports Racing afterwards may have noticed.
Don’t Tell Claire has developed and progressed and it has been rewarding for all the team as she is a sweet filly, kind filly in the yard. Having won a class 2 fillies handicap we will most likely look to step her up in class and tackle Listed company next in an effort to try and gain some valuable black type for her future breeding career. The most likely option is the Rosemary Stakes at Newmarket at the end of the month.
With the yearling sales season already in full swing now is the time if you are interested in enjoying similar success to get in touch with Daniel & Claire. They will work together with you to find the next star for you.
At home, Don’t Tell Claire is cared for by Jan Kasecky. She races for Andrew Stonehill and was led up at Ascot by Michael Coles.
