Winner – Harry’s Endeavour
Harry’s Endeavour got the team off the mark on the turf for the season with just our second runner on the green stuff at Bath. Andrew Stonehill’s gelding was having his second start for the yard and in first time cheek pieces was always travelling nicely. Under a well timed, patient ride from Timmy Murphy in a strongly run race he moved up on the outside as they entered the home straight. Timmy held onto him until they entered the final two furlongs and kept him up to his work to avoid him idling in front, he was always holding the runner up and third placed horses who pulled clear of the rest as Harry recorded a 14-1 victory and the first of his career.
With just five starts to date and looking as if physically he should strengthen as the summer goes on hopefully he can keep improving. A big frame of a horse he may stay slightly further in due course. Although only one other progeny of Paco Boy has won over a mile and half there is plenty of stamina from the mothers side of the pedigree, including Doncaster Cup winner Palasator.
It was very satisfying to record our first winner at one of our local tracks as we have had four seconds, two thirds and a fourth from our ten runners at the track. Well done to the team for their hard work and let’s keep it up for the whole summer.
