Winner Lil Guff
Lil Guff brought up her third career win at Haydock over 6 furlongs on Saturday 21st of May. Ridden for the first time by James Doyle, Wayne & Sarah Clifford’s home bred filly didn’t get the cleanest of breaks. Sat nearly last in the early part of the race, she didn’t look to be in the most promising of positions buried close to the stands side rail. However, when a gap opened she moved emphatically to take the opportunity and burst through the field and win with a little to spare in the end.

Lil Guff is by Twilight Son out of the Holy Roman Emperor mare Lady McGuffy. She is the first foal out of the mare raised and bred at the Clifford’s Byerley Stud. Lil Guff was a tough durable two year old winning novice races at Kempton and Goodwood. She was also placed a further four times from nine starts, including runners up spots at Newbury & Newmarket. She has continued to develop at 3. A solid reappearance when 4th first time at Yarmouth, she came forward at Ascot next time out. Although only 7th of the 18 runners in a deep handicap she fared best of those near the front of a strongly run contest. She will bid to follow up over course and distance on Friday again partnered by James Doyle.

As ever thank you to all the team at home for their hard work. A special mention to her regular rider and groom Epona Miller who cares for her.
