Winner – Percy’s Lad

Percy’s Lad loves Chester!

From what looked a really difficult draw the six year old gelding was sent to the front from the gates by Richard Kingscote and stayed there. In doing so he landed the opening race of the final day of the Chester May Meeting in some style.

Percy’s Lad looks better than ever this season. Having run a lovely race first time out at Newmarket to be second. He’s always been a strong traveller but we’ve been encouraged to see him just a little but more amenable this year. The seven and a half furlongs at Chester really suits him. He holds the track record and went very close to matching it yesterday). Race there will always be high on the agenda. He can probably mix and match between seven furlongs and a mile. The gelding was only beaten 3 and a bit lengths in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot last season, so thats a target, he could also get an entry in the Royal Hunt Cup.

Percy’s Lad will have a rating around 100 after yesterday. Going forwards we’ll consider whether we go straight to the Royal Meeting or look at something in between. Later down the line something like the Bunbury Cup at the July Meeting could suit. He might also be interesting in smaller field stakes races where his ability to make all could be a strength. Percy’s Lad was a horses in training purchase for £30,000 by Daniel and Claire. He has now won 4 races and very close to £100,000 in prize money. We will be looking to add horses in training at upcoming sales so please get in touch to discuss how we can assist in purchasing you a star.

Congratulations to owner Alan Kerr. Thank you to all the team who have put a lot of work into this horse, especially his regular rider Alex Swinswood and Sammy Barnett who cares for him.
