Winner – Percy’s Lad

Percy’s Lad ran out a very comfortable seven length winner on his first start for the yard at Yarmouth. The gelding was purchased for owner Alan Kerr at the October Horses in Training Sale at Tattersalls in Newmarket for £30,000. A high class two year old Percy’s Lad beat just two rivals in five starts at three and was picked out by Claire as horse that still had potential. Sam Haggas of Hurworth Bloodstock shared his insights into the horses form to assist in the pre-purchase analysis.

Percy’s Lad powers home under Richard Kingscote

Richard Kingscote was aboard the gelding as he cruised to a bloodless success. He saw off the heavily backed favourite Bake into second by seven lengths. The previous weeks course and distance winner Goddess of Fire was another three quarters of a length back. Having won off a mark of 85 the handicapper is sure to have a say. We will look to run back under a 5lb penalty next week, most likely over a mile at Nottingham on Friday.

Thereafter Percy’s Lad looks like he could head to some of the bigger meetings this summer. He is potentially a horse for the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot or the Buckingham Palace Stakes at seven furlongs. As ever thanks to all the team for their hard with the horse. Particularly Alex Swinswood who rides him out daily and has been a settling influence on Percy. It has been a real team effort to identify the keys to unlocking the horses potential. Skilled farriery, genetic testing, stride analysis and patient horsemanship have all played a part in this exciting horses return to form since arriving at Sarsen Farm.
