Winner – Seneca Chief
Seneca Chief got his first win this season making it five wins from twenty starts. Ridden by Jack Mitchell over five furlongs in the 3.05 at Salisbury, the gelding travelled well in behind, tracking the leaders. He was pressed late on and really knuckled down to get the job done beating runner up Under Curfew by a neck. The pair left three lengths between them and third place, Newyorkstateofmind. The key to the return to form was the removal of the hood which is designed to keep horses settled during a race. However, for Seneca Chief who has matured mentally this season it was keeping him too calm during the race.
The gelding continued the good form of the team with 3 winners from the last four starts. All the hard work continues to pay off!
Seneca Chief was bred by and races for Gary and Lesley Middlebrook and he was led up by Michael Coles. Jan Kasecky cares for the gelding at home.
